Who is Jesus?
Unlike the question “Does God exist?” very few people question whether Jesus Christ existed. It is generally accepted that Jesus was truly a man who walked on the earth in Israel 2000 years ago. The question begins when the subject of Jesus’ full identity is raised.
Jesus commends the Apostle Peter when he confesses Him as “the Messiah, the Son of the Living God” (Matthew 16:16). Jesus himself claimed that he is “the bread of life” (John 6:35) and said that He gives “the water of life” (John 4:14), meaning that he is the source of spiritual life as well as the creator of life. He also claimed that He is the judge of the living and the dead and that his death is the key to our life – not just now but for all eternity!
Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never die.” (John 11:25-26) As dramatic as they are, these claims received incredible support when Jesus rose from the dead. Can all this be true? The evidence is compelling.
